This is an allure and natural setting created by the store as a marketing technique. In the book, The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan, the author covers in great detail the money spent to create this environment as well as how product placement has evolved over the years. For example, grocers always place milk in the back corner so you must walk to the entire store and more likely to then make a purchase. 2. Market basket analysis is a form of data mining that collects information and tries to predict how much, how often, when, where, and what brand of product you will more likely buy so a seller creates a funnel to push products.
